November is National Novel Writing Month.

I’m fascinated by this idea. NaNoWriMo is not a month to honor novelists, but rather a month during which we the people are encouraged to crank out our own material. Let’s be honest for a second and admit that the vast majority of the stuff that’s likely to be produced is probably not “worthy”. Still, I wonder if anybody has found their muse during months past.

Fundamentally, I think that humans are creative creatures. I think this because I believe that we are all created in God’s image, and part of that means that we have a creative bent, as does God. Still, I think that many people don’t ever find or allow themselves to pursue their creative desires.

I’m considering giving this thing a try. Somebody else on this site (not naming names but his title is an acronym) and I have discussed writing and have even started a little bit on our own efforts. Maybe plugging in to a network or group of like-minded people will enable us to be more productive/focused. Then again, we have lives and work, so maybe what I said above, “many people don’t ever… allow themselves to pursue their creative desires,” is for a good reason.
