A PubliK Servent who Refusez to sai he is Sory

John KerrySenator Kerry is the public servant I am talking about. Politics aside, he said something which offended me and I am sure, many others who are serving or have served our country. I am not one to get all up in arms over comments about the Military. Sure, the Military has its weaknesses. I know, because during my time in the Military I saw weaknesses and strengths. Listen to what Kerry said, here. Regardless of what he said before or after that comment, I care nothing about. The fact remains that he said what he said. And, he refuses to say he is sorry. Many college graduates, non-graduates, Officers and others serve our Military. Not all of them are smart (however or whoever defines intelligence), sure, but most have one thing in common - preserving our freedom, that most Americans hold quite dearly. His comment suggests that only “losers” go to Iraq. As in, only dumb people sign up for the Military. Of course, he tried to peddle backwards through a news conference he held yesterday (about two minutes long) here. How arrogant he is to stand there and say, “Now, if those 140,000 people serving really believe that what I was saying was directed at them, then they are crazy. I was directing my comment at the President. It was a botched joke.” Ok, let’s dissect “botched” from an etymological standpoint. Botched means to ruin through clumsiness, to bungle. So, if I get this right, he directed a bungled and clumsy joke towards the President which used as its main subject this: that only uneducated people go to Iraq or serve in the Military. Mmmmn, doesn’t sound like this is directed towards the President to me. Oh, and Senator Kerry, this is posted by a Navy Veteran and college graduate. But then again, I guess you are correct, because I cannot even spell!

  1. Kerry had issued an apology:

Hardly an apology. His words were “were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform”? It’s not a matter of interpretation, it’s a matter of what has been said. He’s really stepping in it.

I do think this has been blown out of proportion, & his reaction doesn’t help. All he needed to say is I mispoke & am sorry for offending. But instead he is drawing it out, & the Republican party is having a field day.

  2. John Kerry has a history of blaming the US for the ills of the world and especially the US soldier. His arrogance and conceit, his degradation of those who serve is apparent from his many gaffes to this effect. One good example that comes to mind is his famous “Meet the Press” interview in 2005 where he said, in regard to US involvement in Iraq, “And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the–of–the historical customs, religious customs…”

You’d expect a person such as Kerry, during a time such as this, to make every effort to apologize for the appearance of giving slight to the people who are fighting - and dying - for a war their country asked them to fight.

But Kerry sees nothing outside of the realm of politics and frankly, I don’t think he has a clue what he’s supposed to be sorry for. He’s out of touch in a pretty profound way. The Republicans deserve to have a hay day with this if Kerry’s party can’t reign him in and talk some sense into him, make him swallow his pride.

Who cares? Who is John Kerry? He can’t/won’t do anything; just there to complain. It all just stretches on & I’m not sure if it matters.

  4. Oh man! That’s pretty rough.

John Kerry’s mishandling of this situation has ruined his chances for a legitimate second chance at the presidency. Pictures like this circulating around the Internet are political death.
