I love the guerrilla-ness of the “FON” router deal. I had considered getting a Starbucks wireless account at one point because where I worked in DC had literally a dozen Starbucks in a half-mile radius. The $40/month (or more) charge for a subscription was madness.
I can see this idea being big not only at Starbucks but at JiffyLube, around public parks, etc. Devices like the iPhone will bypass this functionality but users of laptops will rejoice.
I wonder, at what point of usage could the rental of retail space end up paying for itself if FON routers were used?
